Mark Eitzel Back In 2025 MARK EITZEL UK & EUROPEAN TOUR 2025 I first saw Eitzel perform in 1999 at the Liss Ard music festival in Ireland. I was deeply moved by his performance and promptly requested an interview which took place the following day. Eitzel came across as a sincere and humble man capable of great emotion. I was even more impressed. I can therefore strongly recommend that you grab the chance to witness his performance at one of the below venues, and experience something very special and very moving. Mark Eitzel is a US musician and songwriter renowned for his solo work and as the frontman of the revered San Francisco-based indie rock band American Music Club. He has just announced that his first European tour for eight years will take place in spring 2025, with the majority of dates being solo acoustic sets but concluding with two full band shows. Eitzel will perform songs from his solo albums and an upcoming new EP in his set, as well as a number of American Music Club classics that will also be featured on a new archival box set due out in the second half of the year. The Guardian newspaper has acclaimed him as ‘America’s greatest living lyricist’, while Rolling Stone awarded him their ‘Songwriter of the Year’ accolade in 1992. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XLkm2OeApw AMERICAN MUSIC CLUB Founded in 1983, American Music Club released seven albums, with their third, CALIFORNIA (1988), included in the book ‘1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die’. The group split in 1995, but reunited a decade later for two further records. Eitzel then focused on his solo career, issuing the albums DON’T BE A STRANGER (2012) and HEY, MR FERRYMAN (2017) via Decor/Merge, with the latter widely regarded as his strongest work since the 1990s. He has spent much of his time since then composing music for the playwright Simon Stephens, as well as working on reissues of American Music Club titles that are slated for release in autumn 2025.
